World Cup

The World Cup was created in 1928. It's one of the greatest event in the world, the biggest event in FIFA and the most watched event in the world. The world cup has been played since 1930, was stopped during the second war and returned in 1950.

The World Cup of soccer doesn't include every national team in the world. Only teams that are qualified after the playoffs. In Africa, only 4 national teams can go to the World Cup and the rest are teams from Europe, Asia, North, South America and the Caribbean. In total 32 national teams meet up to compete in the World Cup. I honestly find that not fair how only 4 teams from Africa can participate in the World Cup because 4 is really a small number compared to the number of national teams in Africa.

It happens every four years, 32 teams competing against each other and these 32 teams are divided in 8 groups of four name as (a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h). Starts with the groups playoffs, teams that get qualified after the groups playoffs goes to 8th of final, then quarter-final, semi-final, 3rd place and then the final.
Some people might not know this, but the World Cup contribute in the development of the world economy and most importantly the economic development of the host country.

Among all the world cups that have been played, those that I find spectacular and that I would never forget are the world cup of 1958-1962-1970(Brazil and the Brazilian superstar Pélé), 19886-1990 (Rite of Maradona of Argentina and the revenge of Germany), 1994-1998-2002 (Coronations of Brazil and France) and 2006-2010(The European domination).

Personally, my favorites world cups are the one in 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2006, but my most favorite was the one on 2002. FIFA World Cup in 2002 was played in two countries Korea and Japan. The reason why it's my most favorite is because, first Brazil won the final. It was my first World Cup that I've watch from the start until the end and also I had to laugh at my brothers for the rest of the summer because they were cheering for the losing teams.

Other things that I find really interesting in World Cup are; that it is not only the team who wins the final that gets a price, but as well as the player who scored most of goals; the best goal keeper and the best player of the world cup will also get a price. In 2002, we had a little idea of who will go to the final, who will win, who will be the best player and best scorer. First because Brazil was humiliated on july 12th 1998 in ''Stade de France'' in Saint Denis. Even though Brazil was the title holder, France was the host country so basically they both had chances of wining the competition.

In 2002, two heck of a players were in the competition; the brazilian Ronaldo who was discovered in the 1994 World Cup at the age of 17 and the French player Zinedine Zidane. Zidane scored all the three goals in the final, won the ''Ballon d'Or'' and the world best player in 1998.

My most funniest moment of the World Cup 2002 was when France got eliminated in the first round by Senegal. It was the most chocking game until then, it was unbelievable! Brazil made its way untill the final and won against Germany in the soil of Yokahama in Japan thanks to two stunning goals of Ronaldo. The number 9 of Brazil also gets the price of the top scorer and the ''Soulier d'Or'' of the World Cup.

In 2006, the World Cup was hosted in Germany. Another chocking moment happened, my favorite team Brazil who was the title holder got eliminated in the quarter-final by their biggest rival, France. I was so frustrated, I cried of pain that night and for me it was one of the worst World Cup that Brazil has participated. The host country Germany was eliminated during a penalty shot in the semi-final. Italy wins the final against France and one of the most important thing in that world cup Zidane gets out of the game by a red card after hitting by his head the Italian player Materazzi. You might think it's just an ordinary hit in the stomach but that hit was SPECTACULAR and SURPRISE for everyone especially coming from one of the best player in the world

  1. Wow, I never knew that much about FIFA! I didn't realize that the World Cup started in 1928. That was such a long time ago! Reading this I was able to gain a lot of knowledge on this sport and how big it is. I've never really watched FIFA but this blog caught my attention and I'm looking forward to seeing the next one. Thanks for you insight on things!
